WHAT IS BLOCKBOARD ?

Block board is a man-made product similar to plywood, which has core made from strips of softwood. Block board are made from solid blocks of wood and then sandwiched within the layers of wood veneer by using various types of chemicals and glued together under high pressure. It is better than particle board and medium density fiberboard (MDF). Block board have good dimensional stability (even when exposed to humidity), and exhibit high resistance to warping or twisting.

ADVANTAGES OF BLOCKBOARD

Block boards are lighter in weight as compared to plywood and MDF and it can be more easily transported to the end-location., and also the cost of transportation is decreased
Block boards cost less as compared with good quality wood such as hardwood and plywood. Thus, they are used to lower the cost of interior if required.
Because the interior is solid wood strip, the requirements for processing equipment are not high, which is convenient for on-site construction. It is easy to work and handle.
Block boards have more strength and durability as compared to MDF and particle boards, they can even show stability in humid environment those have moisture resistance.
Block boards have good screw strength and high strength, It can also hold screws and nails very well as compared to particle board and MDF.
Compared to other engineered wood products such as Particle boards and MDF, block board is comparatively stronger and lasts longer.
Compare with MDF and particle board, block board use less glue, it is environmental, It feels as solid wood sense with lower cost.
